Heat

Heat are a visceral, fuzzed out Montreal guitar group in the tradition of The Replacements, Echo and the Bunnymen, and The Smiths. Two years after releasing their Rooms EP, which netted them critical praise from NME, the Guardian and Vice, the band return swinging with their debut album, Overnight. A sonic expansion on their previous, Velvet Underground influenced work, the album is rife with dense guitars, drum machines, and synths, evoking the moody textures of the late 80s in dependent scene. Throughout this super-saturated backdrop, lead singer Susil Sharma's rich bari-tone croons deeply introspective lyrics. In his words, "half of the album is about girls, half is about
addiction." Bless.
